To find the truth we are brought episode by episode, secret after secret in a painful journey that unveils Cora's past.
It's for sure intriguing, but has left me with some bitterness thinking about all these lives full of pain (both physical or psychological): from Cora and her sister to detective Ambrose. Dark.
The Sinner (Stagione 1) - Su Netflix e su Infinity
Cora Tannetti (Jessica Biel) accoltella un uomo davanti alla sua famiglia, è pronta a dichiararsi colpevole, per espiare la sua condanna, ma perchè lo ha fatto? Il detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) vuole rispondere a questa domanda quando nessuno sembra essere interessato.
Per trovare la verità siamo condotti episodio dopo episodio, segreto dopo segreto in un percorso doloroso che ci svela il passato di Cora.
E' sicuramente intrigante, ma mi ha lasciata con dell'amarezza pensando a tutte queste vite colme di dolore (sia fisico che psicologico): da Cora e sua sorella al detective Ambrose. Cupa.
Gone (Season 1)
A few familiar faces here if you follow police procedural/crime series: Chris Noth (Law & order, Sex and the city, The good wife), Danny Pino (Cold case, Law & order: SVU), Tracie Nichol Thoms (Cold case), Kelly Rutherford (Gossip girl), Jordan Bridges (Rizzoli & Isles) and Annie Funke (Criminal minds: beyond borders).
The last one has a small part, but as in "Criminal minds: beyond borders", the task force operates from a plane.
Which task force? The one created by FBI agent Frank Novak (Chris Noth) to search for missing/abducted people, he calls to take part in his team John Bishop (Danny Pino) and Maya Kennedy (Tracie Thoms) (who had already been colleagues in Cold case ... ah ah ah). He also calls to join them Kik Lannigan (Leven Rambin) and James Finley (Andy Mientus), who are best friends and were both kidnapped in their childood. There is a special bond between Frank and Kik: he was the agent who saved her from her kidnapper.
The season finale ends with a cliffhanger, but I haven't found news if it's been renewed or not.
This series is quite good, the only odd thing is this fact that Kik, a civilian, is sent on the field with an FBI agent ... I don't know ... having years and years of watching TV shows that tell you how important the training is, I think it's not very plausible (it's an issue in the series as well). I mean, she knows self-defence and how to shoot, but wouldn't she put at risk her own and her partner's lives? My opinion? Send her to Quantico to keep her place in the team and start the second season from there.

Un po' di volti familiari se seguite i polizieschi o i crime: Chris Noth (Law & order, Sex and the city, The good wife), Danny Pino (Cold case, Law & order: SVU), Tracie Nichol Thoms (Cold case), Kelly Rutherford (Gossip girl), Jordan Bridges (Rizzoli & Isles) e Annie Funke (Criminal minds: beyond borders).
Quest'ultima ha una piccola parte, ma come in "Criminal minds: beyond borders", la task force opera da un aeroplano.
Quale task force? Quella creata dall'agente dell'FBI Frank Novak (Chris Noth) per cercare persone scomparse o rapite, chiama a far parte della sua squadra John Bishop (Danny Pino) e Maya Kennedy (Tracie Thomas) (che erano già stati colleghi in Cold case ... ah ah ah). Chiama inoltre ad unirsi a loro Kik Lannigan (Leven Rambin) e James Finley), che sono migliori amici e sono entrambi stati rapiti da bambini. C'è un legame speciale tra Frank e Kik: lui è l'agente che l'aveva salvata dal suo rapitore.
Il finale di stagione resta in sospeso (come spesso nelle serie made in USA), ma non sono riuscita a trovare notizie se stia stata rinnovata o meno.
Questa serie è abbastanza piacevole, l'unica nota stonata è il fatto che Kik, che è una comune cittadina, venga mandata sul campo con un agente dell'FBI ... Non lo so ... anni e anni a guardare serie TV che ci dicono quanto sia importante l'addestramento, non mi pare sia molto plausibile (anche se è oggetto di discussione anche nella serie). Voglio dire, conosce l'autodifesa e sa sparare, ma non metterebbe a rischio sia la sua vita che quella del suo partner? La mia opinione? Mandatela a Quantico per conservare il posto nella squadra e cominciate la seconda stagione da lì.
The Resident (Season 1)
Did I started to watch because there's Matt Czuchry (Gilmore Girls, The Good wife)? Absolutely yes!
Together with Czuchry in this medical you'll find other popular TV-series faces: from Emily VanCamp (Everwood, Brothers & sisters, Revenge) to Melina Kanakaredes (Guiding Light, Providence, CSI: NY) to Merrin Dungey (that Alias' fans will remember as Francie/Allison).
What defines this medical from others? A continous and persistent economical interest of some characters, that to obtain their goal (=personal benefit) are ready to go above and beyond. A cynical and (hopefully) not too realistic view of USA's hospital reality, that differs to all those medicals where all the doctors are ready to do their best to save a life. (Don't you have now in your mind "How to say a life" and dr Derek Sheperd? I do)
Interesting finale that opens up to the second season with no particular cliffhanger (and I'm so very thankful because I'm still traumatized by New Amsterdam's finale).
Have you watched it? Wasn't so strange to see Melina Kanakaredes play such a mean character?

A far compagnia a Czuchry in questo medical, altri volti conosciuti delle serie TV: da Emily VanCamp (Everwood, Brothers & sisters, Revenge) a Melina Kanakaredes (Guiding Light, Providence, CSI: NY) a Merrin Dungey (che i fan di Alias ricorderanno come Francie/Allison).
Cosa contraddistingue questo medical dagli altri? Il continuo e persistente interesse economico di alcuni protagonisti, che per arrivare al proprio scopo (= beneficio personale) sono disponibili a fare tutto ma proprio di tutto. Uno sguardo cinico e (spero) non troppo realistico della realtà ospedaliera statunitense, che si contrappone a tutte quelle serie nelle quali tutti i medici del cast sono disposti a fare del loro meglio per salvare vite. (Ecco, non vi viene in mente "How to save a life" ed il dott. Derek Sheperd? A me sì).
Finale interessante che apre alla nuova serie, senza essere troppo "cliffhanger" ( e ne sono particolarmente felice perchè sono ancora traumatizzata dal finale di New Amsterdam).
E voi l'avete visto? Non è stato stranissimo vedere Melina Kanakaredes interpretare una parte così meschina?
